Roald Victor Herwick DDS, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2008, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Roald was born in Bone Lake, Wisconsin to Tekla Roer and Peter Gerhard Herwick. He graduated from Dental school at Emory College in Atlanta, Ga, practicing general Dentistry in Silver Spring, Maryland, for 20 years. Roald was a Lt. Commander in the US Navy, serving in the South Pacific during WW II. After graduate training from Columbia University in NYC, he practiced Orthodontics in Washington, D.C. for an additional 20 years. He retired to Arizona in 1994. An avid golfer, he held memberships at Congressional Country Club in Potomac, Maryland, and Pinnacle Peak Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. He enjoyed travel, making cross country trips by car and dining with friends, who concur that "he was a great guy". Roald is survived by two sisters Mary Ann Wickwire (Chester) and Goody Williams, sons Roald Victor Jr.DDS (Patty) of Los Altos, CA, and Peter H. Herwick MD (Jan) of Paradise Valley, AZ, granddaughters Shawn and Sarah, grandson Jonathan and 4 great grandchildren.
