Christy Darlene Means passed away unexpectedly the evening of January 15, 2019 in her home. Christy was born on June 22, 1949 to Clinton and Helen Petersen in Alameda, California. She was the second eldest of four children who cherished her family and was always there for her brothers, Dennis and Richard, and her baby sister Becky. Christy met the love of her life, Ronald K. Means while in school at Ohlone College in Fremont, California. The two were married in Reno Nevada on May 1, 1970. They were later sealed for time and all eternity on June 27, 1972 in the Oakland California Temple. The are the parents of six children whom they love and adore.
Christy is survived by her husband Ron Means; five of her children, Scott (Jill) Means, John (Jody) Means, Kari (Jason) Thompson, Ryan (Jamie) Means and Julia (Ryan) Morris; 19 grandchildren, with one on the way in May and one great-grandchild.
Christy's family was her joy. Her favorite place to be was with her husband surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She loved to travel with Ron to celebrate her family's big days and to remind them how loved and important they are. Christy was a woman of service. She served quietly and without need to be noticed. Christy loved her Heavenly Father and God's love shined through her. She was always studying and learning about her Heavenly Father and would teach others what she had learned through her actions and words. Christy had an amazing work ethic whether she was meeting the physical or spiritual needs of others. Those who were blessed to know her will forever have a glimpse of Heaven.
She is preceded in death by her son, Robert Matthew Means; parents, Clinton and Helen Petersen; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Nelda Means; sister-in-law, Carol Means; brother-in-law, Lorin Germaine; nephew, David Means and dear friends, Lafi Tafua and Beverly Roberts.
