Nekrolog:
STURGIS, S.D. \emdash Robert Dennis "Bob" Christensen, 65, of Hot Springs died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Hospital in Sturgis.
Memorial services will be at noon May 16 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden, Neb., with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 11 a.m. May 16 at Minden Cemetery. Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Dec. 4, 1948, in Minden to Norris and Norma (Jensen) Christensen.
In 1974, he married Janet Lower.
Survivors include his father, Norris Christensen of Minden; daughter, Brooke Graham, her husband, Eric, and son, Elijah, of Casper, Wyo.; daughter, Robin Mortenson, her husband, Ty, and daughters, Ryleigh and Brynlee, of Casper; son, Jon R. Christensen and his significant other, Maddie Chuman, of Casper; Janet Christensen of Casper; brother, Mark Christensen and his wife, Jane, of Minden; nieces, Heather Thesenvitz, Megan Duncan and Dana Fetters; nephew, John D. Christensen; many cousins; and a wealth of friends all over the country.
He grew up in the Minden area and was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. He graduated from Minden High School in 1967. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He and Janet were married for 19 years and had three children.
In 1977 he earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. In 1978, Bob and Janet moved to Casper, where he owned and operated his own business for 18 years. He was also a member of the VNVM/C Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club.
Bob loved the great outdoors including fishing, camping and chatting with friends around a good campfire, skiing and snowmobiling. He also loved reading especially about history and loved everything Husker. He was a very talented artist with his favorites being drawing, leather art, woodworking and photography.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma, and his brother, Jim.
