Ove Helmer Grann

Ove was born in Orsted, Denmark. He, along with his brother Henning and a friend immigrated to Canada in 1951, settling in Pass Lake. He worked on several farms before he purchased his own. He met his sweetheart Phyllis Marie Dahl in Pass Lake and they were married on June 15, 1957. In 1958 they purchased Dunville General Store and started a family, raising three children and working many long hours. They later changed the name to Pass Lake Corner Service which they operated for over 50 years. Their son Ken joined the business later. In 1969 they purchased the Grann Motel which the operated for a short period of time. Ove loved to travel and Phyllis' suitcase was always ready to go. Together they saw many parts of the world. He also enjoyed curling, golfing, dancing and weekend fishing trips. Their camp on Portage Drive has always served as a great getaway for family and friends. Ove is survived by his wife of 52 years Phyllis, children; Ken (Cindy), Wendy (Dennis) Sorensen and Dennis (Corinne), grandchildren; Melissa, Cory (Stephanie), Tayler, Logan, Amy and Aden, 4 sisters, two of whom are in Denmark, Ingrid Grann, Methe Christiensen, Kirsten Mork and Tinna (Otto) Maarup, brothers Henning, Leif (Gail) and Max (Barbara), sisters-in-law Inge Grann, Sue Grann, Carol Dahl and Jane (Reg) Blunt. Ove is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jorgen and Anna Grann, brothers Harry, Ernest, Benth, and Verner.
