Mabel Thomsen, 87, of Rockville died, Thursday, Oct. 7,2004 at Henderson Care Center
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at the United Church of Christ in Rockville with Rev.
Doug DeNeui officiating. Church now named the United
Burial was in the Souleville Church of Christ in Rockville. She

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna.
Music was provided by Dorothy Zinnel and Gene Nitsch.
Pallbearers were Wayne Thomsen, Roger Thomsen, LaVem Thomsen, Dutch Dethlefs, Dan Dethlefs, and Robert Thomas.
Memorials are suggested to the Souleville Cemetery, United Church of Christ or donor's choice.
Mabel Thomsen was born May 18, 1917 on the family farm three miles east of Rockville to Thomas and Anna J. (Steffensen) Thomsen. In 1920 the family moved to the newly established farmstead one mile east of Rockville. After the death of her father she and her mother and sister, Hilda moved to Rockville where she lived until moving to Park Place Nursing Home in Grand Island four and a half years ago.
She attended Rockville Public School graduating in 1934. She was a graduate of the Kearney State
Teachers College. She school for 45 years: eight years in country schools in Buffalo, Sherman and Hall counties, one year in Litchfield, four years in and the last 32 years in Loup City teaching junior high English.
She was baptized in the Danlsh Lutheran Faith at Dannebrog and later became a member of the
Rockville Evangelical Reformed Church now named the United Church of Christ in Rockville. She
was a member of the Rockville Community Ladies Aid, the Jolly Time Card Club, the Royal Neighbors of America, Loup City Education Association and Nebraska Education Association.
She received her name on the Wall of Fame at Loup City High School in 2002.
After her retirement in 1980 she enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing, along with enjoying her
family and friends.
Survivors include one sister, Johanna Thomas and her husband, Henry, one brother, Niels Thomsen
and his wife, Lillian all of Rockville, two nieces, Marian Dethlefs and husband, Dutch of Ravenna and Margalee Thomas of Henderson and three nephews, Wayne Thomsen and wife, Jean of Rockville, LaVern Thomsen and wife, Joyce of Grand Island and Robert Thomas of Rockville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Hilda, two infant brothers, two nephews and
one niece.
Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna was in charge of arrangernents.
