Nekrolog: Published in the Daily Herald on 12/7/2007. Reed W. Petersen passed away December 5, 2007, at the Orchard Park Care Center, in Orem. He was born August 18, 1927 in Provo, Utah to Preston Westergaard and Christina Anina Olesen Petersen. He married Shirley Nelson on April 8, 1951 in Elko, Nevada. Reed served his country in the Army during WWII, and later as a member of the American Legion, Fruitland Branch. Before suffering from the effects of a stroke, he had enjoyed hunting and fishing, and working in his garden. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Orem; three daughters, Barbara Smith of Redford, MI; Kristine (Michael) Beasley of Saratoga Springs; and Denise Butler of Seatac, WA; six grandchildren; Cory, Jeremy, Melissa, Karen, Jeff and Preston (PJ), and eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Glen of Euliss, TX; Leroy of Provo; and Blaine of Sandy. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clint and Bud, a sister, Marge; and by two grandchildren, Duane Amacher and Kerilyn Butler. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the management, nurses, and aids at Orchard Park Care Center for the wonderful and loving care given to Reed. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4800 North 650 East, Provo. Family and friends may meet at the Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 North State Street, Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. At Reed's request, no Funeral will be held.
Nekrolog efter hustruen: Shirley Nelson Petersen 1930 - 2010 "Everyone who knew her loved her and considered her family." Shirley N. Petersen, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on September 14, 2010. Shirley was born on March 4, 1930, in Aurora, Utah, the daughter of Franklin Peter and Stella Lewis Nelson. She married Reed W. "Pete" Petersen on April 8, 1952, in Elko Nevada, and together they had three children. While their children were young, they loved to go for rides in their car. They often visited the lake, went fishing at Strawberry, or for a drive around the Alpine Loop. Shirley loved to crochet and made beautiful afghans, tablecloths and was famous for her baby booties. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Reed; her grandchildren, Duane, and Kari; and four siblings. She is survived by her daughters: Barbara Smith, Kristine (Mike) Beasley and Denise Butler; grandchildren: Cory (Tasha), Jeremy, Melissa (James), Karen, Jeff, Preston "PJ" and Vivian; 15 great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Max Nelson, Iola Jimenez, Denzel Nelson and Clara (Gordon) Pugh.
