Raymond Dale Olson was born November 6, 1943 in Wagoner, Oklahoma to Raymond James Olson and Wilma Viola (Blair) Olson. He graduated from Wagoner High School. Dale played on the NOAA Champion Football Team and was named All-conference Guard. The team were Bi-district Champs. The Wagoner Bulldogs and OU Sooners were his two favorite teams.
Dale served in the United States Army and then was transferred to the Army National Guard, where he served for six years before his honorable discharge with the rank of Sgt.
He married the former Barbara Ann Reed on April 16, 1965, and they enjoyed 56 years together. Dale and Barbara were members of First United Methodist Church.
Before retirement Dale worked in mechanical maintenance for Continental Industries, a producer of mechanical fittings for the gas and water industries. He loved fixing anything that was broken in both his professional and private lives.
His family fondly remembers how he enjoyed watching westerns at home and walking and riding his bicycle around town. He loved dogs and cats and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Dale departed this life early Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at his home in Wagoner, OK at the age of 78 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Wilma Olson; a brother, Roger Olson; a sister, Marilyn Bird; an uncle and aunt, Minor and Opal Lowery and his dog, Blackie.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Olson of the home; two children and their spouses, Michael and Lesha Olson of Wagoner, Ok and Melissa and Tim Duncan of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Raymond John Olson and Jesse Olson, both of Wagoner, OK and Cassie Chambers and her husband, Andrew of Broken Arrow, OK; five sisters and their husbands, Patsy Skelton of Carlton, TX, Janet and Michael Mann of Porum, OK, Karen Olson of Wagoner, OK, Terri and Keith Scott of Wagoner, OK and Jerri and Mike Brooks of Glenpool, OK; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and his dog, Ranger.
