Robert "Bob" Thomas, 73, of Ravenna formerly of Rockville died Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Services were at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Congregational Church in Ravenna. The Reverend Darrell Holzinger will officiate.
Burial was in the Souleville Cemetery near Rockville. .
Robert William Thomas was born January 26, 1946, in Loup City to Henry and Johanna (Thomsen) Thomas.
He graduated from Rockville High School in 1964 and later from Kearney State College in 1968 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
He taught English and Speech at Centura High School for 12 years. While at Centura, he enjoyed directing both plays and the speech teams, as well as being the Student Council sponsor. He was a State Student Council Leadership sponsor during many summers. Former students would communicate with Bob years later and he may not have recognized their faces but he did remember their voices.
After teaching, he returned to Rockville to farm with his father. He farmed and lived there until 2008 when he moved to Seneca Sunrise in Ravenna.
He recently moved to Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City.
Bob was a member of the Rockville Evangelical Reformed Church and later the United Church of Christ in Rockville.
He was an active member of Blue Ribbon Rovers 4H Club.
He loved farming, raising both cattle and hogs, fishing, gardening, and enjoying time with family and friends, especially when he could share a good story.
Survivors include a sister, Margalee Thomas, of Henderson. Other survivors include many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Johanna Thomas, and an infant brother.
