Nekrolog: Rollis "Rod" Mervin Miller, 90, of Fergus Falls, MN died, Friday, April 2, 2021 at Lake Region Healthcare. Rollis was born on August 15, 1930, to Dewey and Daisy (Bugbee) Miller in Erhard, MN. On June 16, 1951, Rollis was united in marriage to Luella Tysdal at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN. Their marriage was a testament of true love and devotion. Rollis was employed at Park Region Bakery from 1948 \endash 1951. He then joined the National Guard 47th Infantry of the US Army at Fort Rucker, Alabama and was discharged in 1953. He returned to work at Park Region Bakery until 1965. Between 1965 \endash 1982, he worked at Tysdal Implement and then became co-owner of Tysdal/Miller Implement. In 1982 he sold his ownership and started Miller's Bobcat, which he owned and operated until he retired in 1999. He was a member of the America Legion and of the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Posse. He was actively involved with his church Zion Lutheran, when his health allowed. Rod enjoyed gardening and flowers, just liked his Mother had. He really loved hunting and fishing, and always enjoyed betting a quarter on the first fish, of course with that half joking big smile on his face. Through the many successful years of fishing, he was blessed with an abundance of quarters that still reside in his tacklebox. He loved to go for a drive and watch the leaves changing color, and of course he loved spending as much time as he could with family and friends. He was so entertaining when he shared his hunting and fishing adventures, and everyone loved to hear them. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Daisy; four brothers, Bruce Harrington, Dale, Darrel, and Clarence Miller; and sister, Arlene Jensen. Rollis is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Luella of Fergus Falls; four children, Ricky (Donna) Miller of Buena Vista, CO, Linda (Jim) Trupka of Moorhead, MN, Linnae Slattery of Martin, SD, and Lynette (Marty) Ringquist of Fergus Fall, MN; eight grandchildren, Casey (Carl) Winterbower of Grand Junction, CO, Kristi Strum of Bellevue, NE, Abbey (Ryan) Winterbower of Portland, WA, Michael (Angela) Trupka of Fargo, ND, John Paul (Kaytlyn) of Severance, CO, Melissa (Lonny) Lesmeister of Martin, SD, Megan Slattery of Valentine, NE, and Allison Ringquist Osakis, MN;eight great grandchildren, Taylor and Chase Strum, Verity and Enzo Winterbower, Aria and Gavin Trupka, and Kase and Krew Lesmeister; brother, Harold (Betty) Miller; sister-in-law, Doris Miller and brother-in-law, LeRoy Tysdal.
Nekrolog efter hustru: Luella "Lou" Thora Miller, 94, of Fergus Falls, MN died Friday, May 17, 2024 at Lake Region Healthcare. Luella was born on May 16, 1930 to Lewis and Thea (Moklev) Tysdal in Fergus Falls, MN. She shared the same birthday as her mother. Luella graduated from the Fergus Falls High School and then completed Teacher's Training. She taught at a country school for many years. Her students adored her and continued to stay in touch. On June 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Rollis "Rod" Miller at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN. They were the first couple to get married in this church. Their marriage of almost 70 years was a testament of true love and devotion. She worked at a retail dime store in Alabama while Rod was in the army. She also worked as a bookkeeper at St. Luke's Hospital and as a receptionist at Star Laundry and Cleaners, all in Fergus Falls, MN. Luella was a paraprofessional in the Fergus Falls School District. She was also the accountant for their businesses Tysdal/Miller Implement and Miller's Bobcat until they retired. Luella was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir, was a soloist for the services and several events, was the superintendent of Sunday School, and led many Circle religious gatherings. Her love and devotion of God was very important to her throughout her life. You always knew when Luella was in the room with her bright light of positivity as she always had something to share. She was very entertaining and everyone loved being around her. Her profound love for always putting others first and her caring spirit shined brightly throughout her life. She absolutely loved life to the fullest! Her first priority was her family and always cared about their every need! She also loved gathering with friends and family. She held everyone close to her heart and always remembered contacting them on their birthdays. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, baking, canning, playing the piano and loved any type of adventure! Visitors were always welcomed with her baked goods and a cup of coffee. She never forgot how to sing or play her favorite song "You are My Sunshine." Luella moved to the Pioneer Senior Cottage - Heartland in Fergus Falls, MN for memory care when Rod passed away in 2021. She was so blessed to be loved and cared for by their wonderful staff up until her passing. Luella is survived by four children, Ricky (Donna) Miller, Linda (Jim) Trupka, Linnae Slattery, Lynette (Marty) Ringquist, eight grandchildren, Casey (Carl) Winterbower, Kristi Strum, Abby Winterbower, Michael (Angela) Trupka, John Paul (Kaytlyn) Slattery, Melissa (Lonny) Lesmeister, Megan Slattery, Allison (Tanner) Wulfekuhle, and eleven great-grandchildren, Taylor and Chase Strum, Verity and Enzo Winterbower, Aria and Gavin Trupka, Kase, Krew, and Kaden Lesmeister, and Raegan and Easton Slattery, brother LeRoy Tysdal, brother-in-law Harold (Betty) Miller and sister-in-law Doris Miller.
