Nekrolog efter manden: Roger Holo, 90, of Dalton, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. Roger Harley Holo was born Dec. 9, 1918, at home in Tordenskjold Township, rural Battle Lake, the son of Oie and Ella (Hoff) Holo. He was baptized in Bethel Lutheran Church and attended rural School District No. 285. On June 21, 1949, Roger and Mary Miller were married in Tonseth Lutheran Church, rural Erhard, by Rev. M. S. Gjerde. After their marriage, they lived three years on a farm by Stalker Lake, and then purchased their farm in Tordenskjold Township. In 2000 they sold their farm and bought a home in Dalton. Roger farmed and was employed with Dieseth Construction as a welder, mechanic and fabricator. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, then a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and later Zion-Sarpsborg Lutheran Church where he served 15 years on both church boards. He was a member of Lake Region Pioneer Threshermans Association, holding his lifetime steam license, and enjoyed working on and operating steam engines. Roger was very mechanical and had various items he had built. He enjoyed tinkering, welding, building and making something out of nothing. He liked fixing things. Roger and Mary, together, enjoyed different threshing reunions throughout the area. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Maureen (Doug) Werts of Bothell, Wash.; a grandson, Nick Werts of Tacoma, Wash.; sister, Gladys (Leonard) Schott of Fergus Falls; brother, Edmond O. (Joan) Holo of Battle Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Ella Holo, a sister, Irene Holo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Alice Holo and Herbert and Theoline Holo.
