Nekrolog: Daughter of Dr. Arne K. and Kirstine Peitersen. Her family moved to Fort Collins when her father came to head the Botany Department at the Colorado Agricultural College in 1919. Glenda and Lowell W. Charkey were married July 2, 1935. Glenda received her degree in botany in 1936. She was a 50-year member of both the First United Methodist Church and the Fort Collins AAUW Branch. She was a charter member of the Poudre Valley Art. She was a patron of the National Institute of American Doll Artists and a member-at-large of the United Federation of Doll clubs. She was active in art and antique groups and subsequently gave a number of programs in this area. Some of Glenda's artwork has been displayed in the Denver Art Museum and many art shows. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her husband Lowell, son Alan and daughter Nancy. Following Glenda's wishes, no services will be held, her remains will be cremated and buried in the Peitersen family plot in Grandview Cemetery. She stated that friends may contribute to a charity of their choice in her memory.
